"La Flor" beach, just two kilometers away from our hotel, where marine turtles arrive to lay their eggs. This massive arrival of paslama sea turtles (Lepidochelys Olivacea) is a phenomenon occurring on very few beaches world wide.

Nicaragua is blessed with many beaches where the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle variety (Lepidochelys oliveacea) come to lay their eggs. After reaching the beach, turtles search for a place to lay their eggs. After digging a big hole, turtles start laying their small, white eggs. About 100 eggs are deposited in the pit, which is covered with sand by turtle. After this impressive work, the turtles return slowly to the water. Approximately 50 days after the shell is broken. Thousands of small and dark turtles come out suddenly from the sand to the sea.
